Give thanks

With grateful hearts we thank you for your continued business, partnerships, and projects. We love working with you every day!

As the world continues to battle pandemic fallout, we find gratitude in the increased education and awareness of aerosol transmission – that schools, workplaces, restaurants, and homes are understanding the vital importance of ventilation, air turbulence flow, and filtration. Its exciting to see more purposeful CO2 monitoring not only in these building structures, but now in car cabins and personal use devices. Knowing the quality of the air we breathe through this important indicator gas is a game changer for controlling our Personal Air Quality - PAQ™.

We continue to offer our fast, efficient, powerful, battery-operated gas sensing QuiC SLED™ LEDs and detectors for CO2, methane, ammonia, formaldehyde, SF6, refrigerants, and other VOC's.

Upgrading your modules and systems with these devices improves efficiency and portability, but most importantly–they are much less expensive than alternatives.

So whether its an official Thanksgiving celebration, or simply an opportunity to reflect and be mindful, we hope you are healthy and well.

Covid, CO2, and You

Need to monitor Covid risk with CO2 LEDs?

We have an LED for that!

What is your home or office CO2 level right now? Is it below 800ppm to mitigate Covid and other aerosol risks?

Our team discusses this at length with industry customers as we all engage in the daily research and findings of the Covid-19 battle. The conversation ultimately points to CO2 monitoring. Gas sensing, especially CO2, is emerging to be a strong player in mitigating coronavirus aerosol risk, with both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recognizing its connections.

We are especially aware of this because our firm is a leading US producer of CO2 LEDs, and to our knowledge the only producer of this high performance superlattice CO2 LED in the world - the QuiC SLED™.

Covid, CO2, and You

Transmission is dominated by micron scale aerosol droplets.

Lingering aerosol droplets are the main transmission mode of coronavirus and other respiratory pathogens. Transmission is defined as the spread of an infectious agent caused by the dissemination of large droplets onto objects, persons or surfaces OR aerosols that remain infectious when suspended in air over long distances and time.

CO2 Concentrations
Since the coronavirus is most often spread by breathing, coughing or talking, you can use CO2 levels to see if the room is filling up with potentially infectious exhalations. The CO2 level lets you estimate if enough fresh outside air is getting in. Outdoors, CO2 levels are just above 400 parts per million (ppm). A well ventilated room will have around 800 ppm of CO2. It is quickly becoming evident that the lower the CO2 ppm, the lower the Covid aerosol risk. (Image source: IQhome.org)

A big part of mitigating the spread of aerosol transmission is measuring CO2, which is often best done with LED sensors. These LED Sensors provide instantaneous and accurate CO2 measurements in relevant sensitivity ranges. They also can be battery operated which is important for portability and flexible deployment. During the current Covid-19 pandemic, we need to understand and properly monitor our Personal Air Quality (PAQ™) through carbon dioxide (CO2) measurements at home, school, and work places.

LED optical gas sensors like our QuiC SLED™ are the best choice in many of these indoor settings. What it boils down to is that if CO2 concentrations are lower, the Covid aerosol risk is also lower.

The key right now, is to monitor Covid risk with CO2 LEDs as well as other PAQ™ gases. We have an LED for that – and other gas sensing technology to share for PAQ™.

Ask us today how we can help you accelerate your new product development and get LED gas sensors to market in volume.

The Next Step

Finding the Next Step

We are all facing some level of uncertainty in our homes, workplaces and communities, and we get what you are going through right now!

Here at Terahertz we know you are working diligently to see clearly through the fog of uncertainty.  Our team has taken this time to develop alternative opportunities to assist you during possible process delays and remote work situations.

We are still here for you and are confident we can help move your projects ahead.  If you are needing to explore new avenues or take your projects a different direction, let's chat about that too.  Do you need an "at home" evaluation kit to explore before you get back to the office?  We'll get you one.  There has never been a better time to evaluate the impact our health and environmental sensing mid-IR LEDs can have on PAQ™ (Personal Air Quality).  Now is the time to look at new options and opportunities.  Health and well-being is more of a priority today than ever before, lets move forward together.

Top priority for 2020 climate change action - the QuiC SLED™

As we close out 2019 and reflect on the things that matter most, may we hear the call to take environmental action in our own corners of the universe. The United Nations recently reported: “Climate Change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. From shifting weather patterns that threaten food production, to rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding, the impacts of climate change are global in scope and unprecedented in scale. Without drastic action today, adapting to these impacts in the future will be more difficult and costly. (www.un.org/en/sections/issues-depth/climate-change/)

Our primary objective at Terahertz Device Corporation is to assist organizations in their endeavors to affect change by implementing improved systems using our powerful gas sensing LEDs. The QuiC SLEDs™ can be integrated into a variety of consumer and industrial products to monitor and detect harmful chemicals including methane, carbon dioxide, sulfur hexafloride, and other VOCs. These chemicals are not only harmful to human health, they are the most significant contributors to Climate Change. Terahertz Device Corporation QuiC SLED™ technology can be tuned to detect specific harmful gases, while maintaining a price point that is suitable for ubiquitous adoption by consumer and industrial markets. With low power requirements, long operational life, and pricing for scale, QuiC SLED™ products enable next generation management of green house gases.

So as you enjoy the holiday season celebrating a wonderful 2019 with loved ones, may we all resolve to make 2020 the year to implement smart, cost-effective and indispensable changes that will last a lifetime.

Happy Holidays from Terahertz Device Corporation!

First Mover Advantage

A new report published by Research and Markets projects the mid-IR sensor industry is poised to “change everything” and “drive significant change,” impacting all industries. Some driving factors for the predicted success include the ability of mid-IR LEDs to achieve better cost-benefit ratios than other technologies, and the ability to adjust the semiconductor layers for new functionality resulting in LEDs of various wavelengths.

At Terahertz Device Corporation we couldn’t agree more.

Based on our extensive patent portfolio, THzDC currently manufactures the longest wavelength LED that is commercially available, as well as mid-IR LEDs with the highest power output. Beyond this, THzDC is able to manufacture LEDs that are tuned to specific wavelengths. More wavelengths result in greater chemical sensing capabilities, while high output power provides increased sensitivity. THzDC LEDs can also be pulsed rapidly, slashing power requirements. Because of THzDC significant advances in mid-IR LED technology, battery operated, cost effective, accurate gas monitoring is now possible —and scale-able.

According to Research and Markets, “Sensors are being implemented in a wide variety of applications by each vendor so as to permit benefit from first-mover advantage in the market.” THzDC new devices demonstrate the edge of mid-IR LED technology, allowing our partners first-mover advantage into existing markets, in addition to enabling new markets.

Forecasts predict mid-IR sensors to grow from 611 million units sold in 2018 to 10.7 billion sensors worldwide by 2025. Now is the time to act. Contact THzDC to find out how you can get in the game and gain first mover advantage using our 3-12 µm QuiCSLED™ technology.
